Introducing Kody! He is a bright, handsome, and lively Shepherd who is 4 years old and about 60 pounds. His heart is full of love and he has quite the playful, goofy personality. He’s always up for a good run, or a flop in the yard, but when the day winds down, he’s just as content to relax and snuggle in for a lazy evening at home. Kody thrives in outdoor play, especially in well-enclosed areas. While he can be a bit of an adventurer, we recommend not letting him off-leash in uncontained spaces. His favorite spots to run and explore are large, secure areas like an enclosed beach on the East River or a spacious, well-fenced baseball field. He also loves dog parks!
Kody is an energetic and social dog who loves to play chase with dogs of all sizes. He enjoys rolling around and wrestling with medium to large dogs, and he’s incredibly tuned in to other dogs' energy. He’s respectful of their boundaries and will adjust his play-style accordingly—never pushing anyone into play they don’t want! Long walks are one of Kody’s favorite pastimes. He could easily walk for two hours or more, with the occasional sprint mixed in. He also makes an excellent hiking companion, though be prepared to give him time to pause and sniff around—his nose is his guide on every adventure.
When it comes to affection, Kody loves pets, scratches, and belly rubs from his favorite humans. He’s a loving and affectionate companion once he’s comfortable in his home, and he’s perfectly content being left alone for a few hours while you’re away. He doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety—no crying or barking when you leave—but when you return, Kody’s excitement is contagious! He’ll roll over for belly rubs and often loves having you join him on the floor for cuddles.
Highly food-motivated, Kody will do just about anything for a treat! He knows all the basic commands—sit, down, stay, wait, left and right paw, spin, and go to bed—and he’s always ready to learn more with a little training. He also enjoys mentally stimulating toys, particularly food-based puzzles or long-lasting chews like No Hide. Kody is a fun-loving, energetic dog with a heart of gold, and he’s sure to bring joy to any active family or individual who can match his enthusiasm for life. Inquire about him today!
